About APME

Our Story

Launched in 2024, the Asia Pacific Museum Exchange (APME) supported museum and heritage professionals in developing and sharing best practices for stewarding sites, collections, and traditions across the Asia-Pacific region. The two-year pilot program included a virtual webinar series and an in-person Face2Face (F2F) Workshop in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, bringing together 28 museum professionals, with thirteen selected to attend the F2F Workshop.

Fellows

Together, the cohort reimagined how museums, libraries, archives, and historic sites are managed, maintained, and shared with their communities. By witnessing each other’s dedication to caring for cultural materials, the APME participants practiced transnational solidarity and explored ways to address and heal the legacies of colonial histories through museum stewardship.
